Donate, recycle, or haul? A quick Verde Valley guide

July 14, 2026 / 4 min read

Before you load a pile for the dump, it is worth two minutes of sorting. Good items find a second home locally, and a smaller haul costs you less.

Donate it if

  • It works, is clean, and you would give it to a friend.
  • It is furniture with no rips, stains, or broken frame.
  • It is a working small appliance, tools, or usable household goods.

Thrift and resale shops around Cottonwood and Camp Verde take a lot of this, though each has its own rules, and most will not accept mattresses or damaged upholstery. Call before you drive over with a full load.

Recycle it separately if

Scrap metal, car batteries, motor oil, paint, and electronics all have their own drop off paths. Keep them out of the general pile, because a mixed load with hazardous items in it cannot go to the transfer station.

Haul it if

It is broken, torn, water damaged, or nobody is realistically going to use it again. That is what we are for: furniture, appliances, general household clutter, garage and storage cleanouts, yard waste, and small residential cleanouts.
